One of my favorite discoveries in Costa Rica has been the local Sodas. I learned about them from some fellow travelers. They are family run eateries where you can get any meal of the day for about $5.
Not to mention that the food is really good and, way more than you will be able to eat. (That’s a photo of my breakfast from Soda Mimi.)
I have found all the staff at the Sodas to be really friendly and felt at times that I made friends who, if I stayed in a city longer, would probably grab a beer with me and lead to some great conversations. Don’t miss out if you’re traveling on a budget in Costa Rica or just want to try some typical food! You might not always understand exactly what you are eating, but you’ll never walk away hungry. 🙂
