As I walked back to my AirBnB recently, after a phenomenal day in Monteverde, I realized some parts of me were coming back into existence. By day I had been with Americans, Canadians, spoke French with a man from France, and German with some kids from Switzerland.

By day I spoke Spanish with the locals, and on my walk home, met more French people. For dinner, I had shared a laugh with the 4-year old son of a man who was playing with his toy sloth, so I took out mine and surprised him. When I walked back to my accommodation, they were walking the same road! Turns out they are German and so I got to speak German.

So that’s four languages in one day. My brain feels more alert (even though sometimes struggling to switch languages so quickly) and it felt like one of those perfect days where I’m in exactly the right place to meet people from all over the world, which is the perfect place for me.

I’m grateful that the space I have created to rediscover myself is beginning to fill. These moments of perfection are helping me to construct a list of clues about who I am at my best and what I enjoy doing and who I enjoy being, that I know, at some point, and it doesn’t matter when, will fit together perfectly.
